The Paid Media Buyer is responsible for planning, negotiating, and executing digital media buys across a variety of channels—including display, programmatic, social, and search—to maximize reach and return on ad spend. This role works closely with media planners, analytics teams, and creative partners to ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with broader marketing goals.

In this position, the Paid Media Buyer manages day-to-day budget allocation and bid strategies, monitors campaign performance, and adjusts tactics in real time. The role also involves vendor relationship management—negotiating rates, securing premium placements, and staying informed about emerging inventory and placement opportunities. Collaboration is key: the Paid Media Buyer partners with Analytics to track attribution, with Creative to optimize ad formats, and with Marketing leadership to align media plans with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute media plans across display networks, programmatic platforms (DSPs), social channels, and search partners
  • Negotiate insertion orders, rate cards, and preferred deals with publishers, ad exchanges, and network sales teams
  • Implement budget pacing and bid strategies, leveraging automated tools or scripts to maintain performance targets
  • Monitor KPIs (CPM, CPC, CPA, viewability, completion rates) and refine targeting, creatives, and placements for optimal efficiency
  • Coordinate with analytics to integrate campaign tags, set up tracking pixels, and validate attribution models
  • Collaborate with creative teams to ensure ads meet technical specifications, brand guidelines, and A/B test requirements
  • Generate regular performance reports, conduct post-buy analyses, and recommend reallocations or optimizations

Success in this role is measured by improvements in cost-per-acquisition, overall return on ad spend, and the ability to scale high-performing channels while maintaining forecast accuracy and budget discipline. Continuous learning—about new ad formats, inventory trends, and platform updates—is essential to staying ahead of the curve.
